Kylie Minogue Biography
We haven't been able to get pop star Kylie Minogue out of our head since she emerged on the dance music scene out of her native Australia in the late ‘80s. The tiny Aussie first revealed herself as a seductive songstress in 1987 and continued to achieve success in the new millennium with popular singles like Can't Get You Out of My Head and Love At First Sight. After battling breast cancer in 2005, Minogue is back on the pop charts with more music guaranteed to make you wanna dance.Kylie Minogue started her career as an actress with several popular roles before landing the one that made her famous, playing Charlene on Aussie soap opera Neighbors. In 1987 Minogue started her recording career with a cover of Locomotion that was an instant success in her native country before famed British producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman approached the fledgling singer, whose eponymous debut was released in 1988 and went platinum seven times over in the U.K. Enjoy Yourself came in 1989, followed by Rhythm of Love and Let's Get To It. After releasing a greatest hits record, Minogue moved to dance label Deconstruction for the 1994 release of Kylie Minogue, which debuted at the number four spot in the U.K. After several film roles, Minogue was back in the studio for her sixth release, Impossible Princess (aka Kylie Minogue) in 1998 and jumped to Parlophone Records for 2000's highly anticipated Light Years. Minogue performed at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and subsequently sold-out stadiums for her On A Night Like This 2001 tour (her first in nine years!). 2001 was also a good year for the pop star, who knocked it out of the park with smash single Can't Get You Out Of My Head from the multi-platinum album Fever, which was followed by Body Language three years later. In 2005 Kylie had to take a break from managing her pop empire (which includes lingerie, perfume, acting roles, choreography, touring and more) to undergo treatment for breast cancer. Minogue is currently at work on her tenth studio album.
