"Canadian dance group LEN formed in 1991, but it would be nearly a decade before they experienced the smash success of their single ""Steal My Sunshine,"" the song for which they are most remembered. LEN is the brainchild of songwriter and producer Marc Costanzo, a.k.a. Burger Pimp. The band is named after a friend that just happened to walk into the studio while the group was trying to settle on a name.LEN adopted an interesting style, combining alternative qualities with old school hip-hop beats and an upbeat flare. Before their work with major label EMI, LEN spent much of the ‘90s earning fans and releasing material on Costanzo's Four Ways to Rock Records. 1994's Superstar and 1996's Get Your Legs Broke didn't do much to spark mainstream success, but 1999's You Can't Stop the Bum Rush broke the mold. You truly couldn't stop the bum rush in 1999 thanks to the group's catchy single ""Steal My Sunshine."" The old-school beat and sunny vocals were equipped with an indie-pop feel that made the track an instant hit, earning the band significant international attention. The single resulted in a rush release of Bum Rush. The group was unable to capitalize on its hit in the next few years, not releasing another album until 2005's Diary of the Madmen. The album was a collection of tracks recorded between 2001 and 2004. Some critics considered the record to be stronger all-around than the more popular Bum Rush, but it failed to have that irresistible track that Bum Rush had in ""Steal My Sunshine.""While LEN experienced great success in 1999 thanks to their hit single, it seems as though the group is destined to be remembered as a one-hit wonder, despite the fact that they've produced many songs similar to their 1999 chart stormer."
