Lamb of God

Lamb of God Biography

With a name like Lamb of God (changed from the equally shocking Burn the Priest,) you didn't expect this band to exhibit the softer tendencies of nu-metal did you? Good, because Lamb of God has been bringing back the hard edge to metal since 1998 and continues to make music worthy of their brutal name into the new millennium.Lamb of God is comprised of vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Will Adler, bassist John Campbell and drummer Chris Adler. The metal band formed in 1998 with their old moniker intact, under which they released their self-titled debut, but emerged in 2000 with their newly christened name and an acclaimed album to boot. New American Gospel was promoted by a heavy touring schedule for the Richmond, VA band. Major heavy metal festivals served as Lamb of God's pulpit to preach their brand of death metal, which began work on the follow-up to New American Gospel while on the road.Devin Townsend, producer and creator of Strapping Young Lad, aided Lamb of God in the studio and the group's sophomore LP, As the Palaces Burn, followed in 2003. Just one year later Lamb of God issued Produced by Machine and Epic delivered the group's 1998 debut Burn the Priest. Lamb of God documented their live performances in Philadelphia on 2005's cleverly titled DVD Killadelphia and a live album of the show followed later that year. In 2006 Lamb of God released an album of new material, Sacrament, and in 2008 the live album Walk with Me in Hell documented the American death metal band's worldwide tour in support of Sacrament.

"Do you ever get tired of the hoards of nu-metal bands out there that just don't bring on the brutality and hard edge of metal music that you love? If so, then look no further than the American death metal outfit Lamb of God (who changed names after their 1998 debut with the name Burn the Priest, under which they issued a self-titled debut album.) This Virginia band is revamping the heavy metal genre with a heavy touring schedule and string of successful albums that make the melodic nu-metal music of their contemporaries look like child's play. After years releasing acclaimed records on indie labels, major label Epic took notice and signed the band in 2003; Lamb of God has since released four albums under Epic, and despite major label representation their music has yet to be compromised. Lamb of God's most recent album of new material, Sacrament, was released in 2006 and blew metal fans away with 11 tracks of metalcore mania. PlayPhone offers several downloadable music tones from Lamb of God's Sacrament such as ""Blackened the Cursed Sun,"" ""Beating on Death's Door"" and ""Foot to the Throat."" The website also offers ""Forgotten (Lost Angels),"" ""Descending,"" ""More Time to Kill,"" ""Redneck,"" ""Requiem,"" ""Pathetic"" and more songs from their latest release."
