"Italian vocalist Laura Pausini made her singing debut before she was even a teenager. She experienced her first hit in 1993 with the track ""La Solitudine"" at the age of 19. Her eponymous debut album fared well thanks to the single and Pausini's willingness to record the disc in a variety of languages. The Spanish version of the record sold exceptionally well, with the single titled ""Lo Soledad.""She followed up the Spanish release of her debut with Laura in 1994. The album put her impressive vocals on display and hinted at the vast potential that lay beneath. She released several albums in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, each resonating with fans in their respective markets. She gained worldwide recognition and toured all over the planet to one sell-out crowd after another. In 2001 she released a greatest hits album that was to be followed by the record that would initiate her crossover into the English-speaking market, 2002's From the Inside. Despite coming equipped with a feel similar to popular artists such as Celine Dion and Michael Bolton, From the Inside was generally a flop among English-speaking listeners. The record had a multitude of characteristics and elements that had helped other artists become mainstays on the U.S. charts, but, for one reason or another, From the Inside failed to make waves. After a much-needed break, Pausini returned in 2004 with Resta in Ascolto/Escucha, her first album recorded in her native Italian in nearly half a decade. Returning to her roots worked wonders, as she saw the record climb to the top of the charts. The disc, after being re-released in the U.S., took home the Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Album in 2005.Pausini has continued to release albums and has been quite successful in her efforts, despite never successfully completing a crossover into the English-speaking market."
