Limp Bizkit Biography
Limp Bizkit brought rap metal into the forefront of popular music and struck a chord with rage-filled teenagers and those who just wanted to Break Stuff. The most well-known member of the band is front man Fred Durst, who has well known for his rough lyrics. He bounced around from North Carolina to Florida in young adulthood, spending some time in the Navy and eventually becoming a tattoo artist in Jacksonville. It was there that he formed Limp Bizkit in 1994 with bassist Sam Rivers, guitarist Wes Borland and drummer John Otto. When the band Korn came to town, Durst tattooed one of the band members, who took a demo from Durst when they returned to Jacksonville.Korn gave the demo to a producer and soon Limp Bizkit was added to a tour with the Deftones and House of Pain. They soon signed with Flip/Interscope and released Three Dollar Bill Y'All in 1997. They were gaining popularity through live shows and broke into the mainstream by being on the Family Values Tour. They released Significant Other in 1999, which soon reached number one on the Billboard 200 and pushed their debut release into the top 25 of the charts as well.Durst started making gains in business as well as he was named to a senior vice presiding position at Interscope. Limp Bizkit appeared at Woodstock '99, which turned out to be a disastrously violent affair that hurt the band's public image. They released another number one album in 2000 with Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. The band lost Wes Borland at this point, but he later returned. Each album they have released since has found its way onto the charts with 2003's Results May Vary reaching number three. They released a greatest hits album in 2005, which also charted.
