"Memento broke out their debut album Beginnings on February 25, 2003. The album produced two hit singles, ""Nothing Sacred"" and ""Saviour,"" both of which scored well on Mainstream Rock Tracks. The album is unique in its focus on melody, creating hooks using background vocals and centering their songs around powerful choruses. The group was on their way to becoming big stars. But where had they come from? Bridging the cross-over into the new millennium two musicians spent three years as band members for V.A.S.T. (a.k.a. Jon Crosby) touring the US in a million dollar tour bus. Justin Stewart Cotta and Steve Clark woke up one day and realized they could do better than babysitting a rock star. So one day they left the bus and set out on their own. After three and a half years with V.A.S.T., they were ready to make it on their own. The duo flew to LA, where they recruited Justin's fellow Australians bassist Leighton ""Lats"" Kearns and guitarist Space. Clark immediately made moves to set Justin up as the front man for the band, having already witnessed his charisma and performance prowess. The group was picked up by Columbia Records. Shortly after a fight for the stage at a gig in LA left the group a little bruised but victorious. The group recorded Beginnings in 2003, followed by a place on the bill at Ozzfest - they had found their rite of passage.Unfortunately, the band that had begun with so much promise was disbanded due to personal conflicts just one year after they had started out. The band reformed in 2006 with a new drummer, Jeff Bowders. They took the name Tower, eventually changing it to Ether. They had one more name change to Nine Times Bodyweight, eventually dissolving once again according to rumor. This gossip appears to be true as no news has come from the band since 2006."
