Not many teenagers can say they've surpassed the fame of country music legends like Billy Ray Cyrus, but Billy Ray's daughter Hannah Montana - err, Miley Cyrus, sure has one-upped him on the charts. Miley is the teen sensation best known for her Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana, and with insane amounts of energy and a stampede of tween followers, the young starlet is bound for big time fame.Miley was born Destiny Hope Cyrus to Achy, Breaky Heart crooner Billy Ray Cyrus, raised in Franklin, Tennessee. Her joyful disposition led her parents to nickname her Smiley, which was shortened to Miley and eventually stuck. Cyrus was practically born into fame, and her acting debut came at age nine when she made a cameo on the television show Doc. Cyrus' performance on Doc was overshadowed by another small role in the Tim Burton film Big Fish, and the talented young artist soon thereafter turned to conquer the music industry. The best of both worlds struck in 2005, when Cyrus got the chance to star in the TV show Hannah Montana, a Disney program in which Cyrus plays a teenage girl living a double life - the normal school girl Miley by day, pop star Hannah Montana by night. The first soundtrack to Hannah Montana, released in 2006, emphasized Cyrus' vocal abilities, and her musical career has since exploded.Cyrus embarked on a Disney tour in 2007 opening for another Disney pop act the Cheetah Girls, and Cyrus/Montana released two Hannah Montana albums in 2007, as well. By 2008, news of Miley Cyrus had spread long past the Disney Channel, and the young role model had also started recording albums as herself (as opposed to being connected with Hannah Montana). Aside from releasing the number one hit album Breakout in 2008, Cyrus is also at work filming Hannah Montana- The Movie.
