Murphy Lee

Murphy Lee Biography

"Murphy Lee spawned from the St. Lunatics group most recognized for the multi-platinum success of group member Nelly. St. Lunatics had been a St. Louis rap staple since the early ‘90s and exploded once Nelly's debut album, Country Grammar, appeared on the R&B scene. Lee, along with other St. Lunatics crew members, was featured on the album and allowed him to showcase his country-style rap music to the world.Tohri M. Harper was born in St. Louis. His nickname was inspired by his grandfather, whom he looked similar to. Often known to follow older brother Kyjuan around, Lee and his brother's friends would often freestyle outside of their high school. After growing up in St. Louis and focusing mainly on school, Lee changed gears as his St. Lunatics crew began making headlines in their home town with their hot tunes. After Nelly got signed, Lee followed his fellow St. Louis rapper to the big city and began creating music with him there.Since Country Grammar, Lee proved that he is becoming a rapper who is redefining standards, providing standout verses for Nelly's ""Batter Up, Rock the Mic"" remix and most significantly, the ""Welcome to Atlanta"" remix with Jermaine Dupri. In 2001 the St. Lunatics crew released their first album, Free City, followed by Nelly's Nellyville a year later. Rewriting his own tale of Murphy's Law, Lee titled his debut album Murphy's Law hoping the reverse will happen - what could go right will go right. Lee teamed up with Champs Sports, who premiered Lee's video in their athletic stores nationwide. Lee's raps and lyrics always remain respectful and implicit."
