"N.W.A.'s street slang was so convincing that at one point the rap group's record label was confronted by the F.B.I. While nothing became of the investigation, the group remained one of the leading gangsters due to their violent and sexist lyrics. Their head strong personalities and egotistical manners led to an eventual demise before the mid ‘90s, yet the group remained one of the pioneering gangsta rap groups, only behind Public Enemy.The group formed from the mind of Eazy-E, born Eric Wright, a former drug dealer who created his record company, Ruthless, with his drug money. After finding Dr. Dre (Andre Young) and Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson) and adding the rapper to his label as songwriters, the ever eager Eazy tried everything he could to get involved in a money making hit R&B outfit. Success came when he formed N.W.A. (Niggaz With Attitude) with Dre, Ice Cube and World Class Wreckin' Cru member DJ Yella, the Arabian Prince and D.O.C. to the group.N.W.A. and the Posse was released in 1987 and saw little of anything - few critics were remarking about the familiar party jams while only a small fan base picked up the EP. When MC Ren (Lorenzo Patterson) was added to the mix and Public Enemy tonalities were added, Eazy-E's group was seeing big time underground success, while the single ""Fuck tha Police"" caused uproar with the authorities.When Ice Cube left in 1989 the group's sound transitioned from gangsta rap to self-parody which began with the feud between Eazy and Ice Cube regarding finances. The two rap artists continued to hash out their disagreements through singles until Eazy's death in the mid ‘90s. When Dre left the group only to keep a running with yet another former N.W.A member, the threats always remained lyrical, never physical. Eazy died from AIDS in 1995 as Dre established himself as the leading hip hop producer."
