"RKM, AKA Rakim, and Ken-Y were inspired by reggaeton and decided to make the genre even bigger. Both hail from Puerto Rico and came together as a group in 2004. They started singing locally, building up a small but loyal fan base. They entered a reggaeton competition called The Draft, which got the group further exposure and introduced them to the top names in the genre. Before long, the group had a recording contract with Money Machine Records. The label got them appearances on mix tapes, but they needed something bigger to really become stars. They would rise to the top in very little time with the release of their debut album, Masterpiece, in 2006. The album was an instant success and reached number one on the Top Heatseekers chart, number two on Top Latin Albums and number 101 on the Billboard 200. Singles off of the at release that helped push it to the top are ""Down,"" ""Dame Lo Que Quiro"" and ""Me Matas."" In 2007, they released a commemorative edition of the album, which reached number four on the Top Latin Albums and number 112 on the Billboard 200. They embarked on a world tour to promote the album, and they were soon one of the top names in the reggaeton genre.RKM Ken-Y capitalized on their newfound popularity by heading back to the studio. They released The Royalty, La Realeza in 2008. The album reached number one on the Top Latin Albums chart as well as number 11 on the Top Rap Albums and number 32 on the Billboard 200. The artists have found collaborative magic with each release, and fans have stood up and noticed. The duo had the beginning mission to expand the reach of reggaeton, which they seem to already be accomplishing early in their career."
