One of many indie-pop Christian bands popular on the airwaves right now, Run Kid Run has developed a solid following in the past couple of years. The Illinois band consists of David Josiah Curtis providing vocals and guitar, Neil Endicott also on vocals and guitar, Matt Jackson on drums and Paul Steward on bass. They've received favorable comparisons to bands like Switchfoot and House of Heroes.Uplifting songs of praise and catchy pop-rock have been their goal since forming. They joined the indie/emo label Tooth and Nail in 2006, releasing their debut, This is Who We Are, in 2007. Songs on that album showed off the band's penchant for including insight with their lyrics, and many fans were drawn to them because of their inspirational nature. "We've Only Just Begun," for instance, was a hit with fans with its hopeful, forward-looking message. On that, Curtis reminds listeners--most of whom are fairly young, ranging from teens to early-20s--that time is all they have, and there's plenty left in life to accomplish, so keep your chin up."Go make the best of everything you want to be," Curtis says. "With ambition pushing forward/Your dreams upon your shoulders/Though impossible it seems/It's time to just believe/From here on out you're just getting older/Pick up yourself, you keep getting closer."In 2007, the band released Love at the Core, their follow-up. The album received great reviews and only strengthened their appeal among Christians looking for meaningful music. The album title was inspired by a friend of the band's who worked as a fashion designer. She had crafted a handbag with the phrase "Love At the Core" on it, striking a chord with the band's members. That phrase perfectly describes their music and the way they live their lives.
