"Satellite Party emerged out of the ashes of Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros as frontman Perry Farrell's new project. When Jane's Addiction crumbled, Farrell released his solo album, Song Yet to Be Sung, in 2001 and continued his quest for spiritual and global awareness. He enlisted guitarist Nuno Bettencourt (of Extreme fame), drummer Kevin Figueiredo, bassist Carl Restivo and backing vocalist (and his wife) Etty Lau Farrell to join him on his journey soon after. Satellite Party issued an eclectic hybrid of rock, electronic, symphonic and urban sounds with a debut that featured collaborations by Peter DiStefano (Porno for Pyros), Flea and John Frusciante (both of the Red Hot Chili Peppers), Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order), Thievery Corporation, Hybrid, Fergie and the film composed Harry Gregson-Willaims. The album told the story of The Solutionists, dedicated to solving the world's problems, and boasted a song called ""Woman in the Window,"" which used a previously unreleased Jim Morrison vocal track. In 2007, after three years of hard work, Satellite Party made its live debut with a performance at the winter X-Games. In May of that year, Columbia Records released Satellite Party's debut album, Ultra Payloaded. The high-concept album told a story about global warming through a musician and night nurse and critics hailed Farrell's vocals as their best ever.Perry Farrell first began his quirky career in the L.A. club scene in the late ‘80s before forming the rock outfit Jane's Addiction. Farrell formed the famed music festival Lollapalooza and transformed Chicago into the music destination for over 180,000 people (at the 2006 festival); he has donated proceeds from Lollapalooza towards rainforest preservation in Costa Rica and continues to champion environmental and social causes. While talks of a Jane's Addiction reunion are still looming, Farrell continues to concentrate on Satellite Party."
