"Seal is probably the most recognized British soul vocalist from the past few decades. Seal, born Sealhenry Samuels was born in Nigeria and raised in England. He studied architecture before taking up singing around local pubs in London and joined the English funk group Push who ended up touring around Japan in the ‘80s. When Seal returned to England after leaving a Thailand-based blues group he met house producer Adamski and the two recorded ""Killer."" The single became a hit in 1990 and helped Seal sign his own recording contract. With the help of ABC/Frankie Goes to Hollywood producer Trevor Horn, Seal released his first single, ""Crazy,"" that year, which led him straight to superstardom. The single peaked at number fifteen in the UK while in the US it made the seventh spot, helping his debut sell three million copies.Three years later Seal debuted his sophomore effort, the second self-titled album to appear with his scratchy voice. During his years working on his second album he also worked on Jimi Hendrix's Stone Free tribute and Jeff Beck's ""Manic Depression."" Seal was another success, riding off the singles ""Kiss from a Rose"" and ""Prayer of the Dying,"" crossover singles that made the pop charts in the US and the adult contemporary charts. Two years after Seal's second self-titled album had appeared it was sent into multi-platinum status with four million copies sold in the US alone. In 1998 he followed up with Human Being and Seal IV five years later. In 2004, the same year he was engaged and married supermodel Heidi Klum, Seal created Best 1991-2004 and the live CD/DVD Live in Paris. In 2007 he debuted System followed by 2008's Soul, a more contemporary classic soul album that featured several cover tracks."
