"‘90s folksinger Shawn Mullins to some may have been a one hit wonder via his hit ""Lullaby,"" but to true folk rock fans, Mullins has been a longtime rocker and remains one of the hit makers of the era.Mullins was born March 8, 1968 in Atlanta, Georgia, where he still resides. After graduating with a degree in music from the North Georgia College and State University where he received scholarship money thanks to his Army ROTC, he remained part of the US Army Airborne Infantry Division for eight years before music began to encapsulate his life (while at North Georgia he had directed the military marching band but had never pursued music fully). While his talent paraded in the army, when he went in search of finding a record label of his own the trek proved to be a little more difficult. After three years of unsuccessful searching Mullins created SMG, his own label, and released the LPs Better Days, Big Blue Sky and Jeff's Last Dance, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, the latter two live collection sets. He continued to set his sights on the big, commercial, picture, and released Eggshells, a semi-brilliantly solo album that saw a few underground hits. Next up was 1998's Soul's Core, the folksinger's eighth studio album and fifth record with SMG. The breakthrough album saw the hit ""Lullaby"" finally capitalize into the mainstream markets, as Mullins continued to record hits that incorporated his love for soft rock and fairytale lyrics. The album allowed Mullins' former work to gain a sizeable audience as he continued to release new albums into the early ‘00s, with Beneath the Velvet Sun, 9th Ward Pickin' Parlo and most recently, 2008's honeydew.
