"Born in Missouri in 1962 and graduating at the University of Missouri with a degree in music education, Sheryl Crow was always interested in music but at first glance didn't expect her life to take a turn like it did in the early ‘90s. Crow spent a few years teaching music St. Louis while remaining strong in the music industry with several cover bands. In 1986, after years writing her own music, the first of which came at age 13, Crow moved to Los Angeles with the dream of working in the biz. Her break came when she earned a spot during Michael Jackson's international Bad tour, singing backup for the ""I Just Can't Stop Loving You,"" before returning to the states. The ballad heavy rocker had trouble gaining the interest of record labels and remained a session vocalist, working with heavy hitters like Sting, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker and more. Along with her poetry like lyrics, which found homes with artists like Wynonna Judd, Celion Dion and Eric Clapton, Crow finally found a recording contract with A&M thanks to her connection with producer Hugh Padgham. In 1991 the two entered the studio but Padgham's pop background left Crow's tracks too ballad-ridden, something Crow wasn't interested in. The shelved album returned when engineer and Crow's boyfriend Kevin Gilbert remixed the tracks with the help of her new found friends David Baerwald, David Ricketts, Brian MacLeod and Dan Schwartz, aka ""The Tuesday Night Music Club"", and reworked her debut album. While the appropriately named Tuesday Night Music Club initially only saw moderate success, with the release of ""All I Wanna Do"" shot Crow's career to rock chart success. Since then, the rock/country/pop singer has toured around the world, has seen more singles reach the top of the charts, sold millions of records, earned nine Grammys and redefined rock ‘n' roll."
