"Striking similarities between contemporary dance-pop artists like Gwen Stefani and the Beastie Boys, the British-hailed girl group Sirens has been knocking out the international pop scene with the vocalists' up-tempo beats and all-too-catchy tunes since the late 1990s, making their way to the top of the Billboard charts with smash singles and overwhelmingly popular albums. The sultry songstresses who make up Sirens have been in the studio with music heavyweights like Pharrell Williams, and the up-and-coming stars have also become a staple on the club scene over the past few years, as well.Comprised of Karina Brians, Kat Haslam and Lea Cummings, Sirens began as a three-piece girl group out of Newcastle, England. The trio harnessed their vocal talents and pop-rap charm and fit their unique styles together, creating a strong girl group by the early 2000s that started making waves around London's music scene. Sirens' sweet tunes caught the ear of Keith Armstrong, the owner of Kitchenware Records who signed the girls to his record label in 2002. At this point, Sirens was a growing name in the British pop music industry, and by 2003 the U.S. had caught wind of the group, as well. After inking a deal with Kitchenware, the three incredible vocalists collaborated with hip-hop master Pharrell Williams to release his song ""Things Are Gettin' Better."" Even the album's name signified the big things to come for Sirens, and the group's debut album Control Freaks was released quickly thereafter, spawning more hits and even more comparisons to contemporary American artists. In 2008, Sirens released their sophomore album La La Land. Featuring the hit singles ""Club La La,"" ""Rockstar"" and ""Little Girl,"" La La Land had a delayed release launch but still was a strong asset to the girl group, pushing the trio to international success as light was shed on Sirens in the U.S."
