"Drawing in fans of all ages with their Latin pop music that lives on the corner of fierce modern salsa and traditional contemporary Latin, Son by Four is one Puerto Rican jam band full of musicians that refuse to allow themselves to be categorized into any one genre of music. Son by Four has had incredible success on the Billboard charts, their reign spanning from Puerto Rico to the U.S. and even parts of Central and South America. The Puerto Rican quartet Son by Four is predominantly a family affair, consisting of brothers Javier and George Montes, along with cousin Pedro Quiles and friend Angel Lopez. The bilingual band of vocalists was discovered by the Latin-pop producer Omar Alfanno, who took the group under his wing and got them signed with Sony's Latin label. Attempting to attract both Spanish and English-speaking listeners, Son by Four worked on their bilingual abilities, eventually recording their debut album Preparense in 1998. The album was well-received by Spanish-speaking fans, spawning the hits ""Nada"" and ""No Hay Razon.""Taking their success in stride but careful to keep incorporating English songs and words for their American audience, Son by Four released their eponymous album in 2002. The album was an instant success among the Latin crowd, resulting in number ones across the charts in the Heatseekers, Latin and Tropical/Salsa categories while also garnering Billboard success for hit singles ""Cuando Seas Mia"" and ""A Puro Dolor,"" both of which reached the coveted number one position on the charts, as well. Son by Four was also the key to attracting the English-speaking crowd, becoming the first Spanish-language track to reach the pop charts in 20 years. Smelling a crossover success, Sony released the English-language version of the album, Purest of Pain, which eventually led to other releases Renace (2004) and Aquí Está El Cordero."
