Taylor Dayne

Taylor Dayne Biography

"Taylor Dayne was born Leslie Wonderman, but in the 1980s she was the Wonder Woman of dance-pop. She started her professional singing career by performing with a few groups after graduating from high school. Post-college, Dayne started her solo career and landed a deal with Arista thanks to her adaptation of ""Tell It to My Heart,"" which quickly became a hit. The single announced her presence to the music world and received significant attention. An album of the same name was released in 1988 as her debut record. Her loud sound and personality, not to mention some serious moves, made a big splash. The record broke into the top 25 on the all-inclusive Billboard 200 and appeared on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts as well. Four singles on the album found their way onto the charts, including the track ""Prove Your Love,"" which reached the number one slot on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. Tell It to My Heart sold over two million copies.Dayne hit it big again with her sophomore effort, Can't Fight Fate, which was released in 1989. Again, she experienced four charting hits, the last of which, ""Love Will Lead You Back,"" was a smash and claimed the number one slot on the Billboard Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts. As far as singles chart positions, Can't Fight Fate actually proved to be more successful than its predecessor. After 1992's Soul Dancing, Dayne took a break for the studio until her return in 1998 with Naked Without You. Though her popularity had begun to wane in her recording absence, several tracks off the record did very well on the dance charts. Dayne has released some original material in the 2000s, most notably 2008's Satisfied, but has kept busy with a successful acting career. She's also released a handful of live albums."
