The Beatles went through several drummers before Ringo Starr joined the band just weeks before they recorded their single “Love Me Do.”When Capitol Records released “I Want to Hold Your Hand” in the U.S., it shot to the top of the charts in a matter of weeks of its release in 1963. It was after the band’s famed appearances on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 that Beatlemania erupted. In the first week of April that year, The Beatles had the top five selling singles in the U.S., a mind-boggling concept that accurately conveys The Beatles utter dominance of the music market at the time.The Beatles became accustomed to their songs reaching number one, as 27 of them did, all the way up until their break up in 1970. Unlike most other bands in history, the end of the Beatles era came while the group was still unquestionably on top. The Beatles’ work was never on the decline and nobody was ever calling for the band to hang it up. They left the game in a career that only consisted of a prime, which may have contributed to the fact many appreciators of music consider them to be the best band in the history of rock and roll, and it would be hard to argue with them.There is no denying the mark that The Beatles left on rock and roll and the music industry in general.
