"Greg Kurstin and Inara George were introduced by a mutual friend named Mike Andrews in 2004. Mike was producing George's solo debut entitled All Rise and was looking for someone to play to George's singing. The duo soon found that they had a shared interest in jazz, Kurstin having studied under the well known jazz musician Jaki Byard when he was attending college. The Bird and the Bee was born, and proved to be an excellent collaboration. They played covers until they had expended their collection, and then went on to write their own music. This resulted in their eponymous debut album, which was reminiscent of Everything But The Girl and Bossa Nova. When the album was released on January 23, 2007 it reached number 17 on Top Heatseakers and number 39 on Top Independent Albums. The album was dropped under the label Metro Blue - it is a free-spirited album containing ten short tracks, all less than four minutes except for the last one. The songs are an eclectic mix of French pop, tropicalia, samba and postmodern/space-age bachelor and bachelorette themes. The single ""F*ing Boyfriend"" stayed at the top of the charts for quite some time. It became a semi-temporary resident of the number one spot on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts. The Bird and the Bee released their second album Please Clap Your Hands on September 25, 2007. This second album took the duo to another level musically. With the controlled, enticing vocals of Inara George, and the incredible instrumental talent of Kurstin, the album creates something that has both the vocals and the instrumentals moving forward in the mental consciousness. They play off of each other with quick-paced instrumentals and smooth alluring vocals the listener is drawn into a whole new way of thinking."
