"Indie English rock group the Cribs is all about the family; the three members are brothers, consisting of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross. The group started playing together in the late ‘80s at a family event, Ross on the drums when he was just five, Ryan singing and playing guitar and Gary playing the bass and singing. Since the boys grew up together, they all found they had similar musical tastes and officially formed their group in 2001. Influenced by the Beatles, the Sex Pistols and Smiths, The Cribs have a unique cult rock sound that initially got them compared to another UK band The Libertines. The brothers recorded their first album in just seven days at London's Toe Rag Studio, the result being a self-titled debut album that showed the world their raucous and adventurous sound. The album was released under the Wichita label in 2004. With their sophomore effort, The New Fellas, the boys got to work with Orange Juice guitarist Edwyn Collins in his studio. Producing the album, Collin's ""orange"" melodies and tones were extremely influential on the album, which appeared in 2005. Their third album moved The Cribs sound away from their ""Lo-Fi"" stereotype and into something much more mature. Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever was recorded in Canada with Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos as producer. Released in May 2007, the single ""Men's Needs"" peaked at number 17 in the UK.That same year they were nominated for four NME awards for Best British Band, Best Live Act, Best Track for ""Men's Needs"" and Hero of the Year as well as headlining the 2008 NME Awards Tour. In 2008, the group added ex-The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr to the mix."
