The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is a unique hybrid of alternative rock, screamo, pop-punk and metal whose matchless moniker and Warped Tour seal of approval sets them apart from the pack.Vocalist Ronnie Winter and guitarist Duke Kitchens were part of the original Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, which formed in Middleburg, Florida in 2003 as a garage-type band performing and recording simply for the enjoyment of their friends. After being encouraged to pursue a real career in music, the band recorded their first EP and appeared in several label showcases before members dropped out or were asked to leave the band. The remaining Winter and Kitchens recruited guitarist/vocalist Elias Reidy, bassist Joey Westwood and drummer Jon Wilkes to join Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, which signed a record deal with Virgin and began recording with producer David Bendeth (Breaking Benjamin, Hawthorne Heights) in 2005. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus debuted their EP Don't You Fake It is 2006 which, after performing in that summer's Warped Tour and releasing hit single "Face Down," went gold.The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' debut EP introduced fans to their brand of alternative rock that exhibits tendencies of screamo and punk-pop. Don't You Fake It landed the band a spot on the Warped Tour and radio waves; the album's single "Face Down," peaked at number three on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart and also squeaked in at number 15 on the Pop 100, while "False Pretense" found its way to the charts as well. As a whole, the Red Jumpsuit's first effort landed the 25 spot on the Billboard 200 and spawned comparisons of Hawthorne Heights and Hoobastank.
