The Veronicas

The Veronicas Biography

"As surprising as it was to see the Veronicas rise to fame both home and abroad at such a young age, it was even more shocking to find out that both are already well-respected songwriters outside of their peppy pop-rock personas. The group consists of twin sisters Lisa and Jess Origliasso, who hail from Brisbane, Australia and were born on Christmas Day in 1984. The girls started performing with one another at the tender age of five and soon started gaining attention for their performances. They released albums while in their teens, then named Liza and Jessica. They also dabbled in television and were cast in an Australian children's show called Cybergirl in 2001.Their sound had always had a distinctively pop feel, but they were also starting to add in elements of tock. They released a song as the group Teal called ""Baby It's Over,"" showcasing the twins' writing abilities. This led to them writing a song for the show Australian Idol, which appeared on the winner's album. They also wrote for a Japanese pop star. Their focus soon shifted to their own music and they started working on material for an album. The dup packed up and moved to Los Angeles in order to get more exposure, taking on the name the Veronicas. Now 20 years old, the girls soon had a deal with Sire Records and released their debut album soon after. The Secret Life Of... dropped in 2006 and reached number three on the Top Heatseekers that same year as well as number 133 on the Billboard 200. Helping the release was the single ""4ever,"" which was used for the comedy film She's the Man starring Amanda Bynes. They showed their progression of maturity through their sophomore release, Hook Me Up. The album came out in the fall of 2007 and had reached number nine on the Top Heatseekers by 2008."
