New York turntable group The X-ecutioners are one of the most respected and revolutionary DJ turntable groups in all of hip-hop. The X-men, as they were previously known before copyright reasons made them change their name, consists of Mista Sinista, DJ Rob Swift, Grandmaster Roc Raida and DJ Total Eclipse, who all perform on turntable. The group were one of the first all DJ outfits to sign a recording contract, second only to San Francisco's Invisibl Skratch Piklz. The group, known for their turntable trickery and battle style DJing, has performed with several different groups live and in the studio, including Organized Konfusion, Large Professor, the Beatnuts and Artifacts.The original group formed in 1989 and consisted of Raida along with Steve D, Johnny Cash and Sean Cee and focused on returning the power of the music back to the DJ. As the hip-hop movement began to grow just as the boys were premiering their ideals and sound to the world, The X-ecutioners were able to commercialize on this unique style.The X-ecutioners have issued several albums on their own, including 2002's Built From Scratch, which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Top 200, as well as working with others. The DJ trio opened for Eminem's 2002 Anger Management Tour and has collaborated with General Patton (Mike Patton), who is best known as the front man for the groups Faith No More and Mr. Bungles. The two DJ groups released the record General Patton vs. The X-ecutioners on Ipecac Recordings in 2005, which features 23 tracks that prove that both these groups really known how to beat it out on the turntables.
