Third Day Biography

Third Day is one of the most important and influential Christian rock groups to come into the limelight in the past 20 years. Their music has found its way into nearly every nook and cranny of contemporary Christian culture. Formed in Marietta, Georgia in the 1990s, the band has had its influence spread the world over.They started out regionally, releasing their first album, Contagious, with the indie label GrayDot Records in '94. They were the very first band that was signed to Reunion Records in 1995 and have since released an amazing 11 albums. The band members are Mac Powell as the lead vocalist, Mark Lee on guitar, Tai Andersen on bass and David Carr on drums. They have played for audiences reaching the millions and have performed at concerts worldwide.With influences like U2, Rich Mullins and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Third Day has proven to be equal to the task of producing quality Christian rock that does not fall into the trap of becoming cloyingly sentimental. They have been amazingly successful in producing music that is culturally relevant and authentically faith-based, often succeeding far beyond their expectations purely by accident. They chose the focus of their 2001 release Come Together more than six months prior to its release. It proved timely, coming out in November at the same time that the US was focusing on unity following the tragedy of September 11.They have had a rocky road as a band, loosing family members and friends along the way, but they have stayed solid in their faith. The difficulties along the way have only served to increase their belief in God. Their mission is to convey the hope of salvation through the sacrifice and eternal love of Christ through their music. The songs that they have produced in their 15 years together as a band are a testimony to their cause.
