Tiffany Biography

"Tiffany was a bubblegum pop idol who paved the way for the rest of the world's teen idols. Tiffany Renee Darwish was born October 2, 1971. Singing country at an early age, she gained the attention of music veterans Hoyt and Mae Axton, who led her to television appearances and local Los Angeles concerts. She even opened a show for Jerry Lee Lewis and George Jones in Texas. But once the teen was taken from her home out into the big world, the girl next door became the girl getting shoved through the door.At just 12 years old, Tiffany signed with George Tobin, who eventually admitted having ""absolute control"" over the teen pop queen. When Tiffany signed a seven-album exclusive production and management contract with Tobin in 1986, it allowed Tobin to solely manage all of her work. With Tobin's pressure, Tiffany moved from her comfortable country outfit to a more pop oriented sound and signed with MCA. But marketing a 14-year-old was difficult, so they started Tiffany on a mall tour before releasing her album. The idea proved successful, as her album pushed Michael Jackson out of the number one spot. Later, she heard tons of MTV and radio time for her cover ""I Think We're Alone Now"" and ""Could've Been."" Her success showed record companies that signing a teen queen might not be a bad thing, and when she gave the teeny group the New Kids on the Block the opening spot on her US tour, teen success was looking up thanks to Tiffany.By the time her sophomore effort appeared, her audiences were more interested in other teen acts that Tiffany helped to get started. Despite this, she has continued to release albums into the most recent decade."

"Teen queen Tiffany started a music revolution that has allowed Britney Spears, N*SYNC and, most notably, the New Kids on the Block to make fame in the record business. What started out as innocent fun, performing in local clubs and even appearing on Ed McMahon's Star Search, Tiffany battled the pressures of being underage in a world ruled by adults. When she first hit the big time it was mostly due to her shopping mall tour, where her singles ""I Think We're Alone Now"" and ""Could've Been"" caught the massive teen attention early on. From there, she was touring the world, hearing her singles and seeing her videos on MTV and emancipating herself from her mother - and all this before she was 18. Though her third album told Tiffany that her former devoted audience was shifting its attention to other hot teen bands, she continued to release albums into the ‘00s, including 2007's Just Me. Currently on PlayPhone's website is the single that jump-started her career, ""I Think We're Alone Now."" The single, from her self-titled debut album, peaked at number 26 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, at number seven on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales and number one on The Billboard Hot 100. With the single at the number one spot, she became the youngest female to ever see an album reach Billboard's number one spot in a debut album. Relive the ‘80s and get her single today!"
