Named after the boot Timberland, rapper/producer Timbaland exploded onto the music scene in the 90's with his defining character and creativity. Born in Virginia, this artist is well known for the unique sound in which he has coordinated with an array of artists, launching his career with high school friend Missy Elliot, and moving on to pop icons Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, as well as the alternative sounds of Bjork. At the start of his career in the mid-90's, Timbaland, born Timothy Z. Mosley, worked extensively with Missy Elliot, leading to the production of three of her albums, including 2005's The Cookbook. This successful producing/songwriting duo in turn produced Aaliyah's double platinum album One in a Million. Proving to the industry that his sound was one of a kind, Timbaland moved on to larger artists in the rap world including Jay-Z, Nas and Snoop Dog. Over time, Timbaland learned to perfect his work, buying a studio in Virginia Beach, starting his own record label, Beat Club and his more recent Mosley Music Group (MMG), both with Interscope, and working with a team of producers and songwriters to complete his unique image. Working with his fellow rapper and friend Magoo, Timbaland has recorded two albums, 1998's Tim's Bio, and 2007's Timbaland Presents Shock Value, showcasing his production talents with number one artists from all areas of the musical spectrum. From 1997 to 2003, again working with friend Magoo, the team released three Timbaland & Magoo albums. Timbaland also showcases his talents in introducing some of his own musical prodigies, such as Bubba Sparxxx and Ms. Jade. And as if holding down a musical empire was not enough, Timbaland lives on a strict diet as an active bodybuilder, punching goals in the athletic arena just as much as he does in the musical one.Timbaland's music takes listeners through a hip-hop journey where moving to the beat is a necessity. Though imitators attempt to reproduce his bass-heavy beats and the infamous beatboxing, Timbaland's musical accomplishments and constant experimentation have taken his sound into musical stardom.
