"Train is a band that started out with a cross-country journey from Eerie, Pennsylvania to L.A in the later half of 1993. Patrick Monahan was looking for a band with his guitar in hand, and found his first man. As he was moving across country, the group The Apostles found themselves going their separate ways, leaving lead singer/guitarist Rob Hotchkiss and guitarist Jim Stafford looking for somewhere to go. Originally it was just Hotchkiss who joined forces with Monahan, making a duo, but they were eventually joined by Stafford and another former member of the Apostles, bassist Charlie Colin. They were rounded out by Colin's friend Scott Underwood on the drums and were soon on their way to fame and fortune. They released their debut album Train on February 24, 1998, and found themselves in the middle of something really big. Their alternative country with a light rock feeling was just what the public was looking for at the time. The album was successful, becoming a certified gold album on November 3, 1999 and then was awarded Platinum status in 2000.The success continued with Drops of Jupiter shooting from gold to multi-platinum status in 2001. Then in 2004 My Private Nation was awarded platinum status as well. The band not only made it...they made it big. The group has now been writing successful hit singles for over a decade, and they definitely know what they're doing. Their most recent album For Me, It's You was released in 2006. For Me is definitely edgier than the rest of the band's albums, and has proven itself by landing a number ten spot on The Billboard 200. Successful singles from the album are ""Cab"" which hit the Adult Top 40 at number 9, and Top 40 Adult Recurrents at number 2, another hit is ""Give Myself to You"" which peaked at number 34 in the charts."
