Travis is one of the best British bands of the ‘90s, who launched themselves into the music scene from Glasgow, Scotland, in 1990 as a bit of a laugh and grew into one of the most important bands of the era. The group is made up of Francis Healy as the singer and songwriter, Andy Dunlop as the guitarist, Neil Primrose as the drummer, and bassist Dougie Payne. The group was inspired by the classic ‘60s sounding rock that was being produced by Oasis, and decided to try their hand at the same kind of music.Throughout their time at art school, the group enjoyed playing together and decided to work on their sound more seriously after finishing school. They moved to London in 1996 and that autumn they released their first EP, All I Want to do is Rock. The EP did a great job of taking into hand the back-to-basics rock that was beginning to become the sound of British music at the time. The band was setting out on a career that would prove their worth as a group, as they became a much more enduring and successful band than many of their peers.Travis released their first full-length album Good Feeling, in 1997. The album polled them as one of the better traditional rock groups of their time, and the public appreciated their sound. Since then the group has been increasing in talent and popularity with their sound in the UK, the US and around the world. Their 2000 album The Man Who was charted at number two on Heatseekers. The Invisible Band was released in 2001 and reached number 39 on the Billboard 200. 12 Memories reached 41 on the 200, and their 2007 album The Boy With no Name topped out at number 58 on the 200 and charted in the European top 100. Their most recent album Ode to J. Smith was released on September 29, 2008.
