Trent Tomlinson was born in Arkansas in 1976, but he was raised in Kennett, Missouri. If you are looking for some music from a true outlaw of the country music industry, then Trent Tomlinson is your man. He as much caught up in the honky tonk, pull up your guns, beat-that-bronco lifestyle as he is in the quieter side of Nashville. During his high school years, in the ‘90s, Trent was first runner up in the contest You Can Be a Star which was the country music counterpart to Star Search. When he graduated he moved to Nashville and launched himself into the hard-working lifestyle of Music Row, chasing publishing deals and struggling to get his music out there. It took him a while to find a style that fit him, but eventually he discovered that songs about drinking, camaraderie, broken dreams and relationships were the way to go. Having found his sound, his career began to turn around. After a few hiccups and a stint as the short-lived duo Trent and Dean, he was finally able to get his publishing deal with Buddy Killen. Following that, a year later, he was able to sign with MCA Publishing, receiving the best salary he'd seen in Nashville. But a corporate take-over found him once again doing what he could to get buy, which meant parking cars in a local garage. Finally a deal with Cal IV Entertainment was in the bag, and he started writing country with a more progressive sound. His debut album Country Is My Rock was released on February 21, 2006. The album found its way onto The Billboard 200 and reached number 20 on Top Country Albums. His great sound is unique, with a rock-based, country-at-heart, honky tonk sound that is bound to get your feet tapping.
