Trick Daddy Biography

"Trick Daddy was born Maruice Young in Miami, Florida. His rise to fame took the American music industry by storm in 2001 when his single ""I'm a Thug"" became a hit single on the charts. He was an overnight sensation that left industry executives scratching their heads, because here was a rapper who not only did not fit the bill of commercial rappers, but was not even attempting to fill in the profile. Growing up connected to the life on the streets, Trick Daddy (originally known as Trick Daddy Dollar) raps about what he knows. If people think his music is tough and a little violent, then he would argue that that is the reality of life where he grew up and that is why he raps about it.When ""I'm a Thug"" reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, he had already had some of his music gaining international recognition. His single ""Nann Nigga"" had reached number 62 on the Hot 100 and had become a hit throughout the South. The song featured him pitted against Trina, a then-unknown female rapper whose raw, raunchy style would eventually win her some international acclaim.Trick Daddy started off in the charts with Based on a True Story which found its place on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. It was followed by his first hit on The Billboard 200, www.thug.com, with a place a number 30."
