"Bringing a pop sheen to their contemporary Christian music influences has made Wilshire a popular band among those looking for heartfelt lyrics and catchy hooks. The singer-songwriter duo's music has carved out a considerable niche in the CCM arena, and their popularity grows by the day.Wilshire is named after Micah and Lori Wilshire, two married singer-songwriters who met while they were in college. Micah approached Lori after seeing her perform one night and they immediately found common ground in their musical influences--the Beatles and soul music. Michael W. Smith, another CCM performer, was instrumental in giving the young couple their start. He heard them perform and was impressed enough to ask them to provide backing vocals on one of his tracks. Afterwards, they toured with him, giving them some much needed exposure among CCM fans.Their self-titled debut album was released in 1998, and immediately impressed Christian music listeners with its great lyrics. One song, ""Ms. Innocence,"" describes the emotions of a woman who wants so badly to find Mr. Right that she blinds herself to the men she's dating.""She's the kind of girl who takes a chance/She's living for a Harlequin Romance/She believes in every lie she's told/Pour her a line and she'll drink it in/Whatcha gonna go when it all falls down/Mr Anybody won't be around/When it comes crashing to the ground/Ms. Innocence what have you lost or found?/She falls in love with every guy she meets/Her affection's won so easily/'Cause he's so charming, so disarming/He fills her head with romantic dreams,"" the song goes. The couple followed up their debut with 2000's Second Story and 2003's New Universe.Though they haven't become mainstream successes yet, Wilshire is certainly on their way, and plenty more hits can be expected from them in the future."
