Wisin Y Yandel have slowly crept onto the scene to become one of the most influential artists in reggaeton. Wisin, born Juan Luis Morera, and Yandel, born Llandel Veguilla, both hail from Puerto Rico. The reggaeton genre came calling for both as they were influenced by some of the style's best artists like Vico C and El General. They were both honing their skills for some time before finding any kind of success, performing all over Puerto Rico. They released their first album, Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio, in 2000 and started gaining a small following of loyal fans. The album reached number 35 on the Top Latin Albums chart. They continued to grow their fan base with the release of De Nuevos A Viejos in 2001, a release that made it to number 26 on the Top Latin Albums chart. 2003's album, Me Vida...My Life, only reached number 56 on the Top Latin Albums chart, but it paved the way for their next release, which would change their career in reggaeton completely. Not only did 2005's Pa'l Mundo reach number one on the Top Latin Albums chart, it also made number 15 on the Top Rap Albums and number 30 on the Billboard 200. Guest stars on the album included Daddy and Aventura. The next year brought an album that included many other artists called Los Vaqueros. They proved the success was no accident with the release of Los Extraterrestres in 2007. It, too, was number one on the Top Latin Albums chart but beat out the 2005 release by reaching number three on the Top Rap Albums and number 14 on the Billboard 200. Their live album from that year, Tomando Control Live, also made it onto the Latin charts and the Billboard 200. They also released an album of older, unreleased material called 2010 Lost Edition.
