Young Jeezy

Young Jeezy Biography

Born with the name Jay Jenkins in 1977, Georgia-raised rapper Young Jeezy has hustled more rap lyrics than the average entertainment act. From businessman to beginning cameos with his group Boyz N da Hood to blowout singles like “Soul Survivor,” Young Jeezy has been in the music industry long enough to achieve a hefty list of accomplishments, also including several songs and albums reaching number one spots on the Billboard charts. With clever lyrics, a street-smart attitude and ambitious goals, Young Jeezy is one artist whose prominence won’t disappear with the next wave of pop music. Before topping the charts with hit rap songs, Young Jeezy was the CEO of Corporate Thug Entertainment. Eventually, his ambition to be a rap artist led him to release an independently distributed debut Come Shop wit’ Me in 2003, and he signed a deal with record label Def Jam shortly thereafter, releasing his first Def Jam album in 2005. The album, Let’s 2005 self-titled release, which came out just a couple months before Young Jeezy’s follow-up album to his first with Def Jam in 2006, and his bad-boy-gone-inspirational-singer vibe shines through in the latter release. With help from producer Timbaland, The Inspiration became a phenomenal success, and three of the album’s singles made the Billboard charts. Now one of the most famous MCs in the wide world of rap, Young Jeezy has released more than four more albums since The Inspiration, including 2006’s You Can’t Ban the Snowman, 2007’s Down South Slangin 44, The Shield Gang and The Recession. And it doesn’t look like Jeezy will be quitting anytime soon.

An unforgettable mix of thug life and inspiration bonds Young Jeezy to the success he has achieved in his musical career. The gangsta rapper is known for throwing around expletives while telling his story simultaneously, and his appeal to the everyday struggling American worker can be partly to credit for his vast group of followers. Young Jeezy’s boisterous and cocky style pairs with his laid-back personality to create a genre of unprecedented southern rap, and it is because of this unique style that Young Jeezy stands apart from his rap rivals like Sean “Diddy” Combs or Trick Daddy.Young Jeezy’s 2005 release Let’s instantly successful song “Soul Survivor,” which stuck to the radios like spam in 2005, paving the way for other songs on the album like “And Then What” and “My Hood.” “My Hood,”The streets love Jeezy and I love ‘em back,” is available on Playphone as a polyphonic ringtone, as are several other songs off the Let’s Get It album. Playphone also has several other Young Jeezy hits as music ringtones, including the fresh song “Say I,” which features singer Christina Milian.
